Thomas Thrasher
Thomas (Tommy) Thrasher has over 30 years of engineering experience in private industry, defense contracting, and the federal government. He retired from the Civil Service in 2025 as the Missile Defense Agency's Project Engineering Director and Asymmetric Left-Through-Right-Integration Chief Engineer, focusing on advanced missile defeat capabilities. He was responsible for managing technical teams working on MDA and OGA special access programs, with management and oversight responsibilities for all disruptive prototype development and technology demonstrations while providing rapid fielding capabilities to the warfighter.
Tommy has held numerous leadership positions throughout his career. He served as Senior Flight Test Analysis Lead in MDA’s Engineering Directorate, supporting dozens of flight test events; Test Design & Analysis Division Chief in MDA’s Test Directorate, overseeing detailed test design, planning, and analysis for flight and ground tests; and Senior Systems Engineer in MDA’s Targets & Countermeasures Directorate, leading acquisition, development, testing and fielding of target hardware/systems for flight tests. Prior to joining MDA, he served as Senior Electronics Engineer for the U.S. Army Redstone Technical Test Center's Propulsion Test Branch, responsible for research, development, test and evaluation, procurement, production, and acceptance testing of Army missile weapon systems, subsystems, and associated equipment. He also has held engineering positions as a defense contractor and in the private sector. Today, as Director of Engineering for Iron Will Ventures, he continues to support the government and industry to rapidly develop, demonstrate, and field operational capabilities to the warfighter.
Tommy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Quinta, live in Madison, Alabama.
